Brentford manager Andy Scott said he hoped his team were rewarded for their efforts in beating Hull City with a top tie in the next round of the Carling Cup.
The Bees progressed to the last 32 for the first time since 1991 by beating the Championship side 2-1 thanks to goals from Robbie Simpson and Marcus Bean.
Scott hailed his team's performance and said Bees fans were in for an exciting season if his team could keep it up.
"This is a very big scalp for us," said Scott. "We want that achievement to be rewarded with a good tie in the next round.
"We were decent on the ball, had plenty of energy and created a lot of chances.
"We dominated the game with the ball as well as off it.
"We didn't allow them time on the ball and won it in good areas.
"The most pleasing thing is having brought so many new players in, our work ethic and ability to go to the end is still there."
Scott said he was pleased for Marcus Bean to get his first goal since last March and said it was up to his players to continue to meet, and even exceed, the standards they had set.
"If we produce that performance every week," said Scott. "For one, everyone will enjoy coming to watch us, there will be lots of entertainment and we will do well.
"The question is, can we do it week in, week out?
"I'm confident we can, but it's a work in progress."
