StevenageTHE OPPOSITION

Stevenage will be playing in this competition for the first time as a Football League team tomorrow night.

The Hertfordshire club were promoted to the Football League last season, winning the Blue Square Premier Division, and have started the season quite well.

Stevenage had been in the upper reaches of non-league football for some time, they won the Conference in 1996 but were denied promotion because of the state of their Broadhall Way ground and a year later took Newcastle United to a replay in the FA Cup.

They reached the Conference play-off final in 2005 and won the FA Trophy in 2007 and 2009 before eventually reaching the Promised Land last year.

They lead the table at the turn of the year and fought off the challenge of Luton Town to clinch the title, but could not complete the double - losing to Barrow in the FA Trophy Final.

The summer saw the club change its name from Stevenage Borough to Stevenage and they opened the campaign with a 2-2 draw with Macclesfield Town.

A Carling Cup loss to Portsmouth and a league reverse against Bradford City followed before they clinched their first League Two win against Stockport County.

A 1-1 draw against Aldershot Town on Saturday leaves Stevenage tenth in the embryonic table.

Graham WestleyTHE MANAGER

Graham Westley became the first manager to lead Stevenage into the league and has been at the club just over two years.

Westley, perhaps best known as the manager of Farnborough Town when they played Arsenal in the FA Cup in 2003, played in the Football League for Gillingham before a non-league career both playing and managing.

He left Farnborough, where he was also a large shareholder, to manage Stevenage Borough, as then was, soon after the Arsenal tie and lead the club to the Conference play-off final in 2005.

He left in 2006 but returned in the summer of 2008, won the FA Trophy in his first year in charge and promotion last term.

Charlie GriffinTHE DANGER MAN

Charlie Griffin has scored three goals in Stevenage's first four League Two matches, after notching 15 in all competitions last season.

The 31-year-old started out at Bristol Rovers and played in the Football League for Swindon Town and Wycombe Wanderers.

He scored 23 goals in all competitions for Salisbury Town in the 2008/09 season and earned a move to Stevenage on a free transfer.

He scored the opening goal on the day Stevenage clinched their place in the Football League.

John MousinhoTHE FORMER BEE

John Mousinho joined Stevenage in the close season after leaving Wycombe Wanderers.

The Isleworth born 24-year-old began his career at Griffin Park, after being signed by Martin Allen in 2005, and played more than 70 games for the club before leaving to join Wycombe in the summer of 2008.

He is best known as a Bees player for donning the goalkeeper's shirt for more than 75 minutes in a 2-2 draw with Gillingham in late 2006.

He experienced both promotion and relegation with the Buckinghamshire outfit before leaving in the summer.

Robbie Simpson after RochdaleTHE BRENTFORD VIEW

Robbie Simpson said Brentford would treat the trip to Stevenage as a league fixture as they sought to get their campaign back on track.

The Bees have picked up just one point in four League One fixtures so far and Andy Scott, speaking immediately after the defeat against Rochdale on Saturday, would not be drawn on what sort of team he would put out in Hertfordshire.

Simpson said whoever was picked would treat the match as if league points were at stake.

"We will go into Tuesday looking to nullify our bad points from today and we need to use that game as if it is three points," said Simpson.

"We need to get on a winning run.

"Winning the game is the most important thing.

"Second to that, a clean sheet would boost everyone, we haven't had one and if we get one it would give everyone a lift, as well as winning the game.

"Hopefully we can do that."
