With the transfer deadline drawing to a close at 6pm this evening, Bees Manager Andy Scott has moved to secure the services of former Bees favourite Ben Hamer on a half season loan until 31st January.
With current loanee Alex McCarthy returning to both his and Ben's parent club Reading 22 year old Ben re-joins The Bees having made 70 appearances for Brentford during his three previous loan periods. They included the 2008/09 championship winning season in which he missed just one League game and kept twenty clean sheets being awarded the Golden Glove Award for most League 2 clean sheets throughout that season.
Manager Andy Scott said: "Ben is a player I know well. He has done extremely well for us in the past. He will come back into a system he knows well although a number of the players have changed since he was last with us. I have said throughout that I wanted two genuine first team keepers competing for the position and whilst I would not wish to be disrespectful to those that have gone before I hope Ben now completes the jigsaw. We have been in constant contact with Reading since Ben returned to them following his previous spell with us and I am delighted to have finally agreed a deal for him to return to Griffin Park initially on a half season loan. Whilst a number of our performances have been constructive we've certainly been giving ourselves a lot to do by conceding poor goals The challenge for the goalkeepers at the Club will be to reverse this trend as we look to kick start our League campaign."
