2008/2009 Season

Last season, their fourth in the Championship having been relegated from the Premiership in 2005 was a calamitous one for them as they finished five points adrift of Plymouth Argyle and safety. Three defeats in their final three games didn't help their cause as they now embark on their first campaign at the third tier for 49 years.

Last League Meeting

We have to go way back to 13th February 1960 for our last League encounter. It was at Carrow Road and we lost 1-2 (Francis) in front of 22,387. At Griffin Park we shared seven goals in front of a similar attendance of 21,634 but goals from Jim Towers (2) and Denis Heath were insufficient to prevent a 3-4 defeat.

Previous Highlights

A real highlight occurred back on January 6th 1996 when Carrow Road hosted our Third Round FA Cup tie. It was the first time in five years we had reached the Third Round. Norwich were a League above us but certainly not form wise as The Bees went in front through an own goal and made it 2-0 on the hour through Marcus Bent. A goal from the home side could not prevent The Bees going through and their reward was an away tie at Charlton and the receipt of "The Littlewoods Giant Killers" award.

Ground

The Canaries have been at Carrow Road since 1935. The original stadium took just 82 days to build and at the time was considered the largest construction job in the city since the building of Norwich Castle. The record crowd was achieved in 1963 at an FA Cup 6th Round match versus Leicester City of 43,984. It is now an all seater stadium with a capacity of 26,034

Attendances

Their average League attendance last season was 24,542 with a high of 25,487 against Watford in April, and a low of 23,225 against Preston North End in November.

Mileage

Norwich, 124 miles from Brentford, is the eleventh longest distance club to us this season.

The Supporters Association will be running coaches to every Brentford League away game this season. Reservations can be made at home matches or by calling 020 8941 0425
