2008/2009 Season

Last season was their first in League One having achieved promotion via the Play Offs from League Two the previous season, beating Rochdale in the Play Off Final.

They finished this past season in 18th place having had ten points deducted through going into administration in April. They had started the season in competitive fashion challenging for a Play Off place before tailing away into a mid table position.

Leading Scorer

Tommy Rowe

Their leading goalscorer was Tommy Rowe with just seven goals in 50 appearances. The twenty year striker has since signed for Peterborough United becoming their first new signing at the beginning of May.

Manager

Their Manager was Jim Gannon who had been there since 2005 until leaving at the end of the season. During the season it looked as though he may have gone to Brighton but he rejected the offer and remained at Edgeley Park.

Last League Meeting

Our last meeting was on the final day of the 2007/08 season when we lost 0-1 at Edgeley Park (6,284), a result which ensured the Play Offs for them (and ultimately promotion). Earlier in the season they beat us 1-3 (Alan Connell) here at Griffin Park in front of 4,449.

Previous Highlights

Highlights of matches between The Bees and The Hatters don't come readily to mind but our double over them in the 2004/05 season are pretty much there. We first met them on 28th August here at Griffin Park and goals from Michael Dobson, John Salako and Deon Burton gave us a convincing 3-0 victory in front of 4,643.

The return was on April 2nd when we won 2-1 courtesy of goals from SP Fitzgerald and Sam Sodje, the latter of which sparked of the zaniest of goal celebrations!
