Leading Scorer

Simon Cox

Their leading goalscorer, and indeed League One`s joint top scorer with Bristol Rovers` Richard Lambert, was former Bees loanee Simon Cox with 29 goals, and 32 in total. Simon made 13 appearances for us on loan from Reading in the 2006/07 season, playing predominantly in midfield.

Manager

Danny Wilson

Their Manager was the experienced Danny Wilson who joined them on Boxing Day 2008. He replaced Maurice Malpas who had left the club the previous month.

Last League Meeting

Our last meeting was on the 22nd April 2006 when we won 3-1 (6,845) at The County Ground with goals from Paul Brooker, Marcus Gayle and Calum Willock. The goal, supporters may remember, was the goal of the season and saw Brooker run from his own half to fire home.

Earlier that season the two sides had played out a goalless draw in front of 6,969.

Previous Highlights

Whilst the game itself may not have been the most memorable, our match against The Robins on Wednesday 16th September 1992 was to be the forerunner of an exciting set of fixtures for The Bees. It was the first of two preliminary matches in the Anglo Italian Cup, and we won 2-1 at The County Ground thanks to goals from Marcus Gayle and Kevin Godfrey in front of 3,189 spectators. Thanks to a follow up victory over Oxford United Brentford embarked on to the European stage where they travelled away to play Ascoli and Cesena in Italy, winning both games. They also won the two home games against Lucchese and Bari only to lose to Derby County over two legs (3-4 and 2-1) on away goals in the English Final.

Ground

The County Ground has been Swindon's home since 1896. In 1951 it became the first ground to have floodlights. The record attendance stands at 32,000 against Arsenal in an FA Cup tie in 1972 whilst the current capacity is 14,800.

Attendances

Their average League attendance last season was 7,498 with a high of 13,001 against Leeds United in September, and a low of 6,002 against Stockport County in January.

Mileage

Swindon, 74 miles from Brentford, is the equal eighth shortest journey for Bees fans this season, pretty much equidistant with Brighton, Colchester and Southampton.

The Supporters Association will be running coaches to every Brentford League away game this season. Reservations can be made at home matches or by calling 020 8941 0425
