The Bees lost out to in form Bromley last night by two goals to one.

The Blue Square South side already buoyed by a victory over an experienced Charlton Athletic team and a draw against their more illustrious neighbours Crystal Palace, scored two cracking individual goals to sandwich a chipped effort by Alan Connell.

Simon Brown, Luke Ruddick, Kevin O`Connor, Karleigh Osborne, Brett Johnson, Craig Pead, Gary Smith, Moses Ademola, Glenn Poole and Charlie MacDonald started with ex Bromley player Sam Wood leading the side.

Karleigh Osborne took an early knock and was replaced by Fraser Franks.

The first of the home side's two goals came in the 21st minute from a 35 yard effort from Mark Corneille which left everybody standing, not least Simon Brown.

The Bees had a good chance to level the scores five minutes later when Pead set up Poole who unfortunately hit his shot too quickly and it ballooned over the bar.

Corneille saw another goal bound shot blocked by Brown at the near post minutes before the break whilst Ruddick's run for goal and resultant shot was saved by their keeper with seconds remaining to the half time whistle.

The second half saw the following Bees take the field: Seb Brown, Kevin O`Connor, Fraser Franks, Brett Johnson, Sam Wood, Marcus Bean, Glenn Poole, Alan Connell plus three triallists Kezie Ibe, Justin Able and Ben Kudoji.

The Bees came out stronger after the break and within ten minutes had an effort cleared off the line and another enter the net.

In the 52nd minute Connell's shot was parried with Ibe`s follow up shot cleared at the last. Three minutes later Connell was in the right place at the right time to seize on a poor back pass and chip the ball over the keeper.

14 minutes later Poole headed home only to see the goal ruled out as the ball had crossed the line for a corner to The Bees.

Brentford were giving a better account of themselves against a very competitive Bromley side who themselves made a number of chances.

The Bees made three substitutions during the half with Leigh Mills coming on for Franks in the 67th minute as did Adam Newton for Ben Kudoji, and George Davis replacing Poole nine minutes later.

With twenty minutes remaining Able saw his long range effort deflected with the keeper saving well.

But just a minute later an excellent individual run and shot from Warren McBean got the better of Seb Brown to regain the lead for Bromley.

With the minutes ticking away both sides had chances to score. Anthony Joseph's shot was well saved by Brown whilst Connell's last second overhead kick flew just wide of the target.

The Bees' next pre-season friendly sees them travel to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday 19th July.
