ALDERSHOT TOWN 0 BRENTFORD 0
Brentford continued their pre-season programme with a 0-0 against League Two Aldershot Town.
A game of few chances never looked like producing a winner and none of the three goalkeepers used were overworked but Brentford played the better football and spent more time on the attack than their hosts.
They could have been ahead inside the first six minutes but Ben Strevens miss-hit a shot after a David Hunt throw was half cleared.
And the striker could have scored again moments later when Myles Weston escaped on the left after latching on to a Ryan Blake pass and cut inside - the wide man's cross looked perfect for Strevens but it eluded him and flew across the six-yard box.
Those were the best openings of the first half and although the home side pressed Lewis Price was not particularly busy.
He saved a looping header from former Brentford defender John Halls, who is on trial at Aldershot, and watched as Marvin Morgan fired into the side netting.
Scott Donnelly headed across the face of goal for the hosts and Ben Harding also hit the side netting before a curling Ryan Hall free kick flew wide.
Hall came close the breaking the deadlock just after the break when he shot narrowly past the far post after a good Kirk Hudson break and Harding shot over soon after.
Although Aldershot were having the better of the chances Brentford would not have been unhappy with their performance - they were moving the ball well and making Aldershot's five-man midfield do a lot of chasing.
Nathan Elder shot wide from the edge of the box after linking up with Strevens before Harding wasted the best opening of the day when he shot over from ten yards after Morgan broke clear on the right.
Substitute Moses Ademola could have scored with his first touch when Sam Wood picked him out with a cut back from a Marvin Williams cross but the young forward shot wide from seven yards.
Wood had a shot deflected inches past the post and David Hunt had a low free kick saved before Aldershot almost won it at the death.
Carl Martin latched on to a Lewis Chalmers pass and got in behind the Brentford defence, triallist goalkeeper Billy Lumley turned away his shot and Danny Hylton blasted the re-bound wide.
