Striker Gary Alexander has assured fans things can only get better after notching his first in a Brentford shirt at the weekend.
The 30-year-old former Millwall striker put the finishing touches to Robbie Simpson's deep cross in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Walsall that left the Bees in the League One bottom two.
The Griffin Park faithful have already seen flashes of the form that made Alexander a fans favourite at the New Den before a heel injury saw him miss most of last season.
But Alexander reckons still needs time to find his best form after a long lay-off.
"I've played my first three games in about ten months. It feels good to be back and I'll only get better with the more games I play," he added.
"As a striker you want score early at a new club, so it was pleasing to get that under my belt "It has not been the start we wanted as a team, but we are working hard and we will put it right."
Alexander's goalscoring home League One debut has left strike partner Charlie MacDonald convinced the pair have a future together.
And the former Charlton Athletic frontman, who has been giving his team-mate a lift too and from training since his summer move, has seen enough to know they can make a go of it upfront for the Bees.
"I've known Gaz for quite a while. He grew up not far from me," he added.
"We've always kept in touch and spoke to each other a lot when he was at Millwall.
"It is obviously pleasing he is on board because he gives us a different option.
"When the ball came up to us with a bit of quality on Saturday, we managed to get around each other really well and we managed to create some opportunities."

BRENTFORD have completed the signing of Leicester City midfielder Nicky Adams.
The 23-year-old pulled out of a move to Griffin Park earlier this summer after the managerial change at the Walkers Stadium.
But he has done a u-turn after being told he's surplus to requirements by Foxes boss Paulo Sousa.
The former Wales U21 international started his career with Bury, before making the switch to Leicester in 2008.
But he struggled to make an impact with his new club, and spent spells on loan at Rochdale and Leyton Orient.
He hoped Nigel Pearson's departure to Hull might have handed him a lifeline, only to be told he didn't feature in Sousa's plans either.

CHARLIE MacDonald admits he needs to be firing on all cylinders to keep his place in the Brentford first-team.
Bees boss Andy Scott boosted his firepower by singing three strikers this summer, with Gary Alexander, Nicky Forster and Robbie Simpson all making the move to Griffin Park.
Last season's top scorer also faces competition from Myles Weston and Carl Cort for one of the two striking spots, but made his first start of the season in Saturday's defeat to Walsall after struggling with a groin injury.
And he hopes the added pressure can bring out the best in him.
He said: "The competition for places is what the club needs. It means everybody's got to be on it or you'll lose your place.
"All of the forwards will feel they should be starting, and won't be happy to be coming off after 65 minutes either.
"There's going to be a few unhappy people but it's up to us to stake a claim. I thought I did well over the 70 minutes against Walsall and linked up well with Gaz.
"The gaffer's got some tough decisions to make but that's what he's paid to do."
