Dale up and running League One newcomers Rochdale celebrated their first win of the season with a comfortable 3-1 success at Brentford.
Anthony Elding gave the visitors the lead after 11 minutes when Bees keeper Alex McCarthy could only parry Andrew Tutte's long-range effort onto his head.
Dale felt they should have been two up two minutes later when Jason Kennedy volleyed home from a tight angle only to see his effort ruled out for offside.
The hosts clawed their way back into it just before the half-hour when Robbie Simpson started and finished a flowing move with a crisp finish from Myles Weston's left wing cross.
But Keith Hill's side deservedly retook the lead on the hour when Chris O'Grady fired home into the bottom corner from the edge of the box at the end of a five-man one-touch move.
Two minutes later it was three, Kennedy latching onto a right wing cross to fire home at the near post and celebrate with the travelling fans - an action which earned him a second yellow card and a sending off.
But even with 10 men it was always Rochdale who looked more likely to score again, although Brentford did manage some lacklustre efforts on goal.
Brentford's Weston flashed a 30-yard drive past the upright before substitute Carl Cort twice went close with headed efforts when he should have done better.

Rochdale got back to winning ways with an impressive victory at Brentford.
Goals from Anthony Elding, Chris O'Grady and Jason Kennedy earned the points at Griffin Park, less than 48 hours after their Carling Cup defeat to Birmingham City.
The visitors took the lead after 10 minutes when Alex McCarthy could only parry Andrew Tutte's long-range effort, and Elding was on hand to head home the rebound.
Dale were denied a second moments later when Kennedy's effort was chalked off by the linesman's flag, and the hosts levelled just before the half-hour mark when Myles Weston's cross was slammed home by Robbie Simpson.
Keith Hill's men regained their lead 15 minutes into the second-half when O'Grady fired the ball home from the edge of the box.
And they wrapped up the points moments later when Kennedy prodded home a third, only to receive a second booking for his celebrations.

BRENTFORD slumped to their second-straight league defeat on home turf against Rochdale.

Everton will face Brentford in the third round of the Carling Cup.
The tie will take place at Griffin Park in the week commencing 20th September 2010 with extra time and a penalty shootout if necessary.
Everton Daily
Everton have been handed a trip to the capital with todays Carling Cup third round draw pitting the toffees against Brentford at Griffin Park. This will be the first meeting between the two sides in 56 years, with Everton cruising to a 6-1 victory in the old Division 2 in 1954.
Brentford have had a troubled start to their League One campaign and currently sit 22nd in the table, however they pulled of the upset of round two by beating former Premier League side Hull City 2-1 at home with Marcus Bean scoring the winning goal.
Everton reached the 3rd round by beating Huddersfield 5-1 at Goodison Park with goals from Tim Cahill, Maroane Fellaini, Jermaine Beckford, Louis Saha and Leon Osman. With the threat of previous giant killing performances against Everton over the years, and with Everton desperate for some silverware this year, you can be sure that David Moyes will be taking this tie seriously.
The match is scheduled to take place on either the 21st or 22nd September.
