Brentford's Youth Team crashed to an away defeat against Northampton Town.
The Cobblers completed a double over Jon De Souza's team, after their victory at Jersey Road in August, thanks to a first half goal and two more after the break.
The Bees were handicapped by injuries and difficult playing conditions but it was a thoroughly disappointing result.
Brentford had the majority of the possession in the first half but failed to create any real chances of note and they struggled with the Northampton forward line.
The Cobblers had a goal ruled out after ten minutes when an offside flag denied the striker the opening goal.
Minutes later Northampton's number nine escaped The Bees' back line but debutante goalkeeper Jamie Kelly parried the shot away before the rebound was fired wide.
The Bees were fortunate to escape again when Jack Ward lost possession - Kelly was able to smother the striker's first shot and Ward reacted well to clear off his own line.
The Cobblers finally found the back of the net after 24 minutes when the striker tried his luck from 30 yards out and his shot fooled goalkeeper Kelly and flew into the back of the net.
Brentford's best opportunity of the half came from a free kick after a foul on Myles Hippolyte.
Emmanuel Oyeleke's effort struck the wall and was cleared.
Tyrell Miller-Rodney showed early second half urgency when his energy saw him pick up the ball and fire an effort from 30 yards out which the keeper managed to save.
The Bees continued to search for the equaliser and Alfie Mawson's cross flew just wide of the far post after Oyekeke's free kick had only been partially cleared.
Despite The Bees' pressing, they were undone by a simple ball through the middle of midfield for Northampton's second.
The Cobblers' striker escaped and managed to round Kelly, who had come out to narrow the angle, before rolling the ball into the empty net.
De Souza, who only had two substitutes on his bench, threw on Joe Maloney for Travis Gregory and Afolabi Coker for trialist Harry Cooksley.
This allowed Jack Ward to go up front and give The Bees some more physical presence in the attacking third.
But it was Northampton who continued to create chances.
A break down the right wing and a ball across the box almost resulted in a goal and minutes later the striker took advantage of a miscommunication between substitute Coker and Kelly and managed to roll the ball home from a tight angle.
Despite being 3-0 behind, The Bees fought for a way back in to the game and Oyeleke was just second best in a race with the keeper after a through ball had released the midfielder.
He also combined to create a chance for Miller-Rodney but the keeper saved his shot.
Jon De Souza was extremely disappointed with the performance and result.
He said: "I am disappointed to lose the game.
"The pitch did us no favours but at the end of the day but it was the same for both teams.
"The boys needed to learn to be able to play to the conditions.
"In the first half we had a lot of the football but we didn't move the ball at a quick enough tempo to hurt Northampton.
"They dropped right off and allowed us to have the ball and we failed to have any creation and guile to create chances.
"They scored to go 1-0 up but to be fair they had more chances and shots than we did in that first half.
"At half time I told the boys that because we had so much of the ball we needed to make it count and move the ball quickly and that we are bright with our movement.
"Unfortunately in the second half, the performance deteriorated and we failed to create anything.
"We gave the ball away a lot and gave away two sloppy goals.
"For the second goal, our defence was too deep and their third goal was a miscommunication between the full back and the goalkeeper.
"We were certainly second best.
"After the game the Northampton coach came up to me and apologised and said he had to make the game solid so they could win the game.
"That was brilliant for our boys development as we played a Northampton side that only cared about the result.
"They didn't care about wanting the ball, they just wanted the result.
"Unfortunately we weren't able to stop them from getting that result.
"We are struggling with injuries.
"Josh Clarke, Charlie Adams, Jemar Dobson, Aaron Scott, Jack Middleton and Tom Warren are all unavailable at the moment.
"But that is not an excuse.
"When any player wears the Brentford shirt they have to put their all into the game and step up to the plate."
